Though the mythology of Fairies is often thought of as Celtic, Slavic, French and Germanic in origin, they are actually found in mythologies around the world. The Fairieland, Fairieworld, or Otherworld they occupy is thought to exist in parallel to our own. The supernatural beings such as the Fae are capable of stepping into our own world and at certain times the veil between worlds is thinner. It is interesting to study these mythologies and to think of them no only in the context of the times they were told but to look at them through a modern lens.
