Krampus

Krampus is a horned goat-demon counterpart and helper of Santa Claus. While Santa rewards the good children, Krampus punishes the bad children beating them with birch rods. Krampus originated in the Alpine regions of Austria alongside other pagan traditions that eventually became inrertwined with Catholicism. Celebrations around Krampus can be dated back at least as far as the 6th or 7th century A.D. and continue to this day.
