Through Allegro’s studies of the Dead Sea Scrolls (The oldest surviving edition of biblical books) he shows a hidden meaning in the bible. Through his finding’s Allegro shows by use of Etymology that the bible contains many hidden messages about mushrooms and fertility cults. He purports that the origins of Christianity lay in Mushroom usage and Fertility Cults that were written in Allegory to hide the true meaning from the Romans to protect early Christians from persecution.
