Reefer Madness is a 1936 American exploitation film about drugs, revolving around the melodramatic events that ensue when high school students are lured by pushers to try marijuana. It exaggerates the effects of marijuana to a comical degree in an attempt to demonize the substance. The film has been canonized in a period where marijuana use was under attack by society, and it’s name has become synonymous with misinformed cannabis facts and it’s unfortunate illegalization.
