The Rosicrucians

Rosicrucianism arose in Europe in the 17th century by the publication of a few texts announcing them as a new esoteric order. Symbolized by the Rosy Cross or Rose Crux. The texts implied a legendary secret brotherhood composed of alchemists and sages. Many believe the history to be more allegorical than literal, and that anyone could adopt the ideology and become themselves a Rosicrucian.

Many at the time were attracted to the promise of a spiritual transformation of mankind made by the manifestos. In modern times a few esoteric societies claim to have come from the original Rosicrucians. Since its introduction through the manifestos, Rosicrucianism has led many to look into Occultism and Spiritualism.
