The emerald tablet is a legendary and likely mythical tablet engraved by Hermes Trismegistus (A combination thr the greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth) with his teachings before he ascended to heaven. So that “Every generation born after the world should seek them” In the 12th century we find various Arabic works that contain translations of the tablet and stories of how it came to be found and translated.Translations of the tablet have been the backbone of Alchemy and Hermetic philosophy.

Occultist and Theosophist took the legend of the tablet and expanded it into more of a belief structure. Claiming there were many tablets and that Thoth or Hermes was actually a king of the lost civilization Atlantis.
